Atlantic Youth Hockey League

WEST CHESTER, Penn. — As the playoffs come into view, the 18U division is as tightly contested as any division there is. With the competition so fierce, this division is still anyone’s to win as we race towards the end of the season.

Philadelphia Junior Flyers vs. Elite Hockey (Premier)

This is a hugely important matchup between the first place Philadelphia Junior Flyers and the second place Elite Hockey will have far-reaching ramifications for the rest of the division. As the playoffs draw nearer and nearer, the Flyers are desperately trying to hold on to their division lead. The two teams are tied for wins, but the Flyers have first place by virtue of securing two ties earlier in the season.  A win here for Elite Hockey would rocket them into pole position in the division, with the playoffs right around the corner.

North Jersey Avalanche vs. Valley Forge Minutemen (Premier)

This is a battle between two teams who, while currently towards the bottom of the division, could move up quickly if they can begin a late winning streak. The Avalanche are just one win out of first place, and they likely feel a playoff spot is within their grasp. When both teams need a win this desperately, this is sure to be a frantic and action-packed affair.

Philadelphia Junior Flyers vs. New Jersey Jr. Titans (Premier)

The Junior Flyers will be back in action later in the weekend, and the competition won’t get any less stiff. They’ll face off against the fourth place New Jersey Jr. Titans. The Flyers can’t afford a loss with Elite Hockey breathing down their necks, but neither can the Titans, as they’re just one loss away from falling out of the top four. However, a win would mean possibly usurping the Philadelphia Little Flyers for third place. With so much at stake, this should an instant classic.
