Knodel Signs with Toronto Maple Leafs

WEST CHESTER, PA – The Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League and the Philadelphia Junior Flyers are pleased to announce that alumnus defenseman Eric Knodel (’90 birth year/West Chester, PA) has signed his one-year entry level deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 2014-2015 season. Knodel also signed a professional tryout agreement with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, the affiliate of the Maple Leafs, for the remainder of the ’13-’14 season. Knodel was a fifth round draft pick of the Maple Leafs, directly from the Junior Flyers U18 team in 2009.

Knodel registered 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists) with 28 penalty minutes and a +16 rating in 41 games with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (Hockey East) and served captain of the New Hampshire Wildcats this season. Over his three-year career at the University of New Hampshire (2011-12 to 2013-14), the West Chester, Pennsylvania native posted 20 goals and 41 assists for 61 points with 60 penalty minutes in 116 games and in his two-year U-18 career in the AYHL, Knodel had seven goals and nineteen assists for twenty-six points in thirty-two games.
