FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – The North American 3 Atlantic Hockey League’s eleventh week of play begins Saturday evening when the Central Penn Panthers travel to Flemington, New Jersey to take on the New Jersey Renegades at Aspen Ice Arena. Five games highlight the week eleven schedule, making it lightest weekend of action in the league since week two (Sept. 16-18). All league games are available on MyHockeyTV.com. Here are a few notes to get you through all the action:
NA3AHL Game of the Week
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights will head to Dix Hills, New York for a Saturday evening matchup with the Long Island Royals. The Royals are one of four undefeated teams in Tier 3 juniors and will open a two-game series with the Knights in a matchup of the league’s top two teams. Two points separate the teams and Long Island swept a two-game series in a pair of one-goal games on October 8-9.
And then there were four…
With a record of 19-0, the Long Island Royals remain one of four undefeated teams in Tier 3 junior hockey (per Tier3juniorhockey.com). Among the four perfect teams, the Royals lead the pack in goals for with 146. The Royals will host the Knights in a pivotal two-game weekend series.
Making their point
With 40 goals and 48 assists, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights forward Jake Fuss (Fairfield, CT) continues to lead the NA3AHL in points (89). While he trails Long Beach forward Martins Vitolins by one point among all Tier 3 players, Fuss has played in three less games. According to Tier3juniorhockey.com, Fuss is on pace to shatter the Tier 3 single-season scoring record and has already placed among the top 100 Tier 3 single-season point totals.
Josh Kim (Livonia, NY) is tied with Fuss with 40 goals, leading all Tier 3 players.
Long Island’s Matthew Araujo (Brookhaven, NY) continues to lead NA3AHL defensemen in points with 35, which also places seventh among all players.
2016 NA3AHL All-Star Game
The 2016 North American 3 Atlantic Hockey League All-Star Game will be held at Aston Ice Works on December 9 at 3:45. The North American Hockey League’s Aston Rebels will host the game, prior to their matchup against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Week Ten Stars of the Week
Taking home the weekly honors for week ten were Jake Fuss (1), Long Island Royals forward Aiden Boehm (Nesconset, NY) (2), and Jersey Wildcats forward Brett Zanelli (Summit, NY) (3). Fuss earned the league’s top honor after notching eight points in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s two victories. Boehm was one of Long Island’s top producers as the team remained perfect on the 2016-17 season, scoring two goals with four assists in Long Island’s two victories. Zanelli earned the third star after leading the Wildcats to a 10-1 rout of Exton with three goals and two assists.
