AYHL Player Movement/Coach Movement Rules

(continued from home page)

Interpretation and clarification of this rule are as follows:

  • Any AYHL Member Cub fielding mite teams making the transition to Tier I “Squirt Minor” for the 2008-2009 Season will be expected to implement this rule. Mass movement from Mite to Squirt Minor will not be permitted with clubs in the AYHL. If players are coming from clubs not members of the AYHL, then there is no limit to the number of players accepted
    at the Squirt Minor level.

  • It will be the responsibility of each individual club to determine the origin of all prospective players to ensure that no more than two players are rostered from any AYHL Member Teams birth year classification.

This rule is solely based on what team a prospective player is coming from and not their birth year.

  • Players being “cut” from their 2007-2008 Season Club will require a written communication either paper or e-mailed to the Commissioner stating that “player X” has been cut from their club after tryouts. Verbal cuts are unacceptable. In order to have been considered a “cut player” players are required to have attended tryouts for the club they skated with during the 2007-2008 Season.

  • Parents or groups that electively don’t show up at tryouts in hope of their former club not fielding a team allowing all players to be “cut” will be dealt with on an individual bases. Players will not be considered cut at the discretion of the parents, players cut are at the discretion of the club.

  • The concept of forming “independent teams” as a work-around to this rule will be closely monitored by the League. AYHL clubs will be prohibited from competing against independent teams that are being formed under the basis of circumventing this rule. Additionally, only clubs in the AYHL can be considered and registered Tier I, in the Atlantic District.

In this, our first tryout and season with the player movement rule in effect there will surely be other scenarios that arise, each will be dealt with by the Commissioner on an individual basis.Through reading this document, the intent and how this rule is interpreted by the AYHL is clear. Should you have any questions regarding player movement please send via email to GAP3165 [at] aol.com, be sure to clearly identify yourself.

Good luck at tryouts!

Regards,
Gene A. Palecco
