Congressman Frank LoBiondo honors the Stars

On Tuesday, August 7th, Congressman Frank LoBiondo requested the Vineland Sled Stars to meet with him at the Vineland Ice Arena. After a short demonstration on the ice for the Congressman, the Stars received some really nice recognition. Each member of the team received a personal Congressional Citation from the Congressman. Also the team was presented with a US American Flag that was flown over the US Capital in DC in honor of the Vineland Sled Stars because of their Championships that they had won in the 2006-2007 season. This was a really exciting night for the Stars, their coaches and their families. With keeping up with the great treatment that the Vineland Ice Arena has always given the Stars, when all the excitement was over they were invited up to the rink café for dinner and dessert. It truly was a night that the players will not forget. 

The Vineland Sled Stars  became the Atlantic Sled Hockey League Champions, with a 9-5 record for the ’06–’07 season on February 18th.  In the last game of the season against the Virtua SJ Wings of Steel, the team demonstrated great teamwork to win the League Championship.

Then on March 2nd and 3rd, the first ever Atlantic District Sled Hockey Championship was held in Westchester, Pa in conjunction with the able bodied district Championships. The Vineland Sled Stars won over the Virtua SJ Wings of Steel in a best of 3 games by winning game 1: 10-5 and game 2: 11-4. The Coaches of the team expressed both happiness and pride for their hard working team.  The team players were excited to be able to take the Championship banner back to the Vineland Ice Arena, the team’s home ice. The Vineland Ice Arena has supported the Sled Stars from the beginning and it was with great pride that they presented the banner to Andrea Berenato.
Mrs. Berenato surprised the team a week later by having all the players names put on the banner, which now is displayed proudly in the Vineland Ice Arena.
