AYHL Alum Marc Johnstone Takes Ice with Penguins

PITTSBURGH, P.A. — In a joyous and proud moment for the Atlantic Affiliate, AYHL alum Marc Johnstone made his NHL debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins this past Friday, December 8.

Johnstone began his AAA career with AYHL, starting with the New Jersey Rockets 13U team in 2009. He played with the Rockets every year until the 2014-15 season, where he completed a stint with the North Jersey Avalanche 18U team. He was a standout throughout his time in AYHL, and on Friday, he was rewarded for his efforts as he made his debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins

Atlantic Affiliate Coach in Chief Ryan Carter, who had the opportunity to coach Johnstone early in his career, was ecstatic to see his pupil’s hard work finally pay off. “Marc’s journey to the NHL is a great example of trusting yourself, believing in your dreams, and never giving up,” he stated.

“The AYHL is incredibly proud of Marc’s accomplishment,” said AYHL Commissioner Gene Palecco. “I’ve personally seen his growth over the years while he played with the New Jersey Rockets in our league. Many times, our paths crossed at evening practices or weekend games and Marc was always out on the ice giving his all. Getting to see Marc turn his dream into a reality shows how perseverance, passion, and competing with the best each week can take you straight to the top.”

Congratulations to Marc Johnstone for his outstanding accomplishment. AYHL is proud have such a skilled and talented alum to demonstrate to the current generation of AYHL players what you can accomplish through hard work and dedication.
