John Farinacci, a former AYHL player for the New Jersey Colonials, scored two goals in quarterfinal play of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship against Slovakia last night. His first goal, a deflection, came at 11:55 of the second period, giving Team USA a two goal lead. The team ended the second ahead by three.

At the start of the third, Slovakia put in two quick ones, leaving Team USA only one point ahead. Farinacci responded, coming from behind the net and scoring on a backhand. The U.S. scored one more on an empty net, finishing the night ahead of Slovakia, 5-2.

The U.S. advances to the semifinals for the fifth time in the last six years. We’ll be watching to see what our alum has in store for Finland on Monday evening.
