AYHL to participate in NAHL Top Prospects Tournament

FRISCO, Texas (December 29, 2017) – The Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL) is pleased to announce its participation in the newly formed North American Hockey League (NAHL) 18U Top Prospects Tournament. The event will take place May 11-13, 2018 at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minnesota, in cooperation with the 2018 NAHL Robertson Cup. The NAHL formerly announced the event on Thursday.

“This is a great opportunity to expand our horizons and partner with a variety of leagues to provide some incredible exposure for the future players of the North American Hockey League to play front of a large number of scouts and coaches who will be attending this event. Combined with the NAHL’s Robertson Cup Championship, as well as, our NAHL Combine, the addition of this new NAHL 18U Top Prospects Invitational Tournament will add to an already exciting event,” NAHL Director of Player Personnel and NAPHL Director Tony Zasowski said in the organization’s official release. “This collaborative effort is one that is for the good of the players, and will add to an already exciting weekend.”

“This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the AYHL’s top 18U players to showcase their skills alongside some of the top 18U players in the world,” commented AYHL commissioner Gene Palecco. “We are honored to be a part of the NAHL’s first-ever Top Prospects Tournament and we look forward to a strong showing by the AYHL contingent in front of NAHL fans and college and professional scouts at one of the top junior hockey events in the country.”

The AYHL will join the North American Prospects League (NAPHL), Tier 1 Elite League, Minnesota High School Hockey and a team comprised of players from Europe in the eight-team field. Each team will play three round-robin games, followed by a championship (and consolation) game that will take place during the 2018 NAHL Robertson Cup National Championship.

The AYHL will release additional information about its contingent closer to the event.
