Avalanche Bantam Minor Wins Bauer Motown Classic

DETROIT, Mich. (October 23, 2017) – The North Jersey Avalanche Bantam Minor (2004) team defeated Team Illinois 3-0 Sunday to win the 2017 Bauer Motown Classic Temptations Division.

The Avalanche, currently ranked seventh in the country in latest My Hockey Rankings, are currently third in the AYHL Bantam Minor standings, but with a perfect 5-0 record, went undefeated in the prestigious event. The team downed the St. Louis Blues (5-1), Fox Motors (4-1) and the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (3-1) in round-robin play and bested the Whitby Wildcats (3-2) to reach championship Sunday.

On championship Sunday, the Avs’ winning ways continued with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fury, before blanking Team Illinois in claim the championship trophy.

The Avalanche return to league play Saturday for a matchup with Virtua Hockey.

The Atlantic Youth Hockey League is the USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier I AAA youth hockey league of the Atlantic District. From Connecticut to Maryland, the AYHL’s membership is comprised of over 100 teams, representing four districts, and is spread across six playing divisions. The AYHL’s mission is to develop young players with competition, fun, and good sportsmanship, and move them on to the next phase of their hockey career.
