AYHL Fall Classic will kick-off 2016-17 season on Friday

NEWINGTON, Conn. – Fresh off a productive Labor Day holiday with strong showings by member teams in various events and tournaments, the Atlantic Youth Hockey League will officially begin its 2016-17 season on Friday with the Fall Classic Midget Showcase.

Featuring 30 games spread across three midget divisions (16U National Premier and Elite, along with 15 Pure), the event will feature some of the top programs in the country opening their 2016-17 AYHL regular season. The event will also feature the debut of the 15 Pure division, which is expected to draw plenty of scouting attention throughout the season.

Twenty-six games will take place at Newington Arena and four games on Saturday will take place at historic Spurrier-Snyder Rink on the campus of Wesleyan University.

Live streaming of the event is not available, however scores will be shared via social media and the website will be updated with game results as they become available.

The Atlantic Youth Hockey League is the USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier I AAA youth hockey league of the Atlantic District. From Connecticut to Maryland, the AYHL’s membership is comprised of over 100 teams, representing four districts, and is spread across six playing divisions. The AYHL’s mission is to develop young players with competition, fun, and good sportsmanship, and move them on to the next phase of their hockey career. With a distinguished alumni list of players that spent a portion of their playing career in the AYHL, today’s players choose to play in the AYHL knowing that it is a proven stepping stone for those serious in their hockey pursuits.
