Release Date : 10/3/2015

PITTSTON, Pa. – The Atlantic Youth Hockey League and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Junior Knights are pleased to announce that alumnus defenseman Marcus Joseph (Mountain Top, Pa.) has committed to Sacred Heart University for the 2017-18 season.

Joseph is currently playing for the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League.

“Marcus was a pleasure to coach and work with,” said Tom Kowal, Joseph’s coach during his time with Scranton. “He is another example of a player, who worked hard in our program, developed, and moved on to the highest levels of hockey.”

Joseph scored 83 points over his five-year tenure with Scranton, averaging nearly a point-per-game from the blueline.

In addition to Kowal’s positive comments regarding Joseph’s on-ice performance, he raved about Joseph’s off-ice persona as well.

“He is an outstanding person,” Kowal said. “Sacred Heart is getting an outstanding person and a very gifted hockey player.”
